Graduate Seminar: Dr. Sencer Yeralan , “Everything you wanted to know about systems, but were afraid to ask”, November 13, 2015
Everything you wanted to know about systems, but were afraid to ask.
by S. Yeralan
What is a system? What is a “systems view” of things? What is systems science and systems engineering? How would I recognize a system if it unexpectedly walked in to my office? Why was systems so popular in the mid-twentieth century — and what happened to all the hoopla? What about “chaos” and “fractals” and “complexity” and “coupled map lattices” and …? May one be a reductionist at heart and still have a systems view?
The talk is for a general audience.
