Speaker:
Dr Anna Oganyan, Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia: on leave at Center for Disease Control, Washington DC
Abstract:
Statistical Disclosure Limitation is a cross-disciplinary area at the intersection of statistics, mathematics and computer science that deals with the protection of individual data from disclosure of confidential information when these data are released to the general public, academic researchers, policy makers, etc., for statistical purposes. In this talk I will present some methods of statistical disclosure limitation suitable for the protection of microdata – individual data records – and discuss their effectiveness based on the utility of the protected data for the legitimate data user and the risk of disclosure of confidential information.
