Abstract:
With the growing use of new telecommunications technologies such as 4G and wireless hotspots, telecommunication network design problems are gaining more attention. Quality of service is an issue for users while the cost of the infrastructure is an issue for the network provider. In telecommunication network design problems, survivability and reliability are used to evaluate quality of service. In this study, a new metric that combines network reliability with network resilience is presented to measure reliability/survivability effectively. It is compared with well-known network reliability/survivability metrics, and its benefits and computational efficiency are discussed.
